Behavioural Problems

Print

.

Excessive aggression and bullying behaviour

Children need to learn how to manage their emotions without violence to others. Firm limit setting and recognition of underlying factors which contribute to this behaviour are necessary.

Developmentally appropriate supportive advice may be useful.

Parenting skills and training may be useful.

Some children require mental health assessment.

Contact the CSO worker if you are concerned about a child or young person’s behaviour.

Inappropriate sexualized behaviours

Children normally explore their own body. Displays of adult sexual behaviours may indicate previous exposure to sexual abuse.

Prompt assessment by an experienced paediatric child abuse team is recommended.

Contact the CSO worker if you are concerned about a child or young person’s behaviour.
