PPSS was established in 2002 to provide early intervention, support and training to all Victorians associated with permanent care, adoption, kinship care, foster care and associated areas. PPSS was established by a dedicated and expert group of permanent care, foster care and adoptive parents and service professionals who saw the need to improve the placement experiences for all involved.
For most children and young people unable to live with a biological parent, living arrangements within a supportive alternative family environment is an enriching experience. Even so, many of the 8000 Victorian children living in these circumstances will at various times require some additional support. This may vary from minor advice on managing particular aspects of their lives affected by the placement, to major support required to prevent a placement breakdown.
Our services are deliberately aimed at encouraging individual and family wellbeing through the provision of timely and accessible support before there is the need for intrusive and costly intervention to avoid placement breakdown.
We are determined to make a difference through prevention and early intervention.
